I most often use an online dictionary and thesaurus. But this book is extra special to me. My mother saved S&H Green Stamps that she received from every purchase she made at the grocery store. I remember licking the yucky stamps and pasting them into little booklets. Then Mama would redeem them at the Stamp Store.
I have no idea how many stamps it took for her to get this book. But it was a high school graduation gift to me so that I would be prepared for college. I have used it over 40 years and sometimes I much prefer leafing through the yellowed pages rather than letting the computer find my word. It just doesn’t contain many technology words, it’s much too old.
Librarians must weed their book collections periodically to rid their shelves of outdated, worn, and torn books.I often pull weeds from my personal book shelves. But this old and worn book has a special place on my shelf and in my heart. Of course, I have quite a few books that I will never be able to discard. Do you have any treasures sitting on your shelves?
Appreciate you sharing, great post. Thanks Again. Cool. Krystalle Karlan Grossman
